Introducing the New GoDaddy Call Center – August 28, 2014

OK, I’m a couple of days early. Rumor has it that GoDaddy will take possession of the new Tempe Call Center on September 2, 2014. The first 100 or so C3 reps will begin working on September 10, with most everyone in the building by 9/17. The building is 98 or 99% done inside. The parking/grounds/Phase III areas are  80-85% done. Grand Opening to be announced, but should take place in October sometime, depending on schedules. The inside of the building looks pretty much the way it did last week, only a little cleaner, and more of the finishing touches are done. The outside is way different. The basketball area has all of the “sails” mounted, and looks really cool. The whole Delta 13 area is coming along. Some of the areas were getting concrete poured/finished today. Landscapers everywhere. planting/finishing up the drip irrigation/finishing the planters.  The kitchen/break area has a lot of the serving tables and stations being installed. Tables and chairs stacked up everywhere. The training room has projectors, I asked about the light from all of the windows…….. whir ….. the blackout screens are automatic. The gym floor is down, but none of the equipment is in place yet. There are HUGE TV’s everywhere. 55″-90″. Yes I said 90″ TV’s. The break room in the developers area contains taps for beer, and wine coolers…….  This is a building all of us at GoDaddy can be proud of. All of the images I shot are available HERE.

Call Center II – August 21, 2014

ITS ABOUT THE D E T A I L S !!!
IMG_7151
They started adding “sails” over the basketball area. Directly behind the “Delta 13” area (circles area in the foreground) You can see asphalt being “paved” for more parking areas, and trees being planted. Directly behind these areas is “Phase III”.
IMG_7191
Second floor main training area/conference center? This is the only area on the second floor using the “admin” work environments, rather than “cubicles”.
IMG_7211
My favorite area in the building so far. I’m sure the cafe will have many, many more favorite spaces, they just are not as close to being finished as this area is.
IMG_7212
The stainless steel and glass “rails” overlooking the cafe and main lobby areas are being installed, and look very classy.
IMG_7239
Directly between the building and Warner roads, the parking area is close to being finished. The “stripes” are in. The dirt areas will be planters, or 4WD parking.
IMG_7298
The first 2 “sails” are installed. I’m sure the look of this area will change daily.
IMG_7302
Tree. There are 100’s of trees staged around the property, some much larger than this one, and some smaller.
IMG_7921
While I was on the roof, a flock of pigeons flew over.
IMG_7922
This piece of equipment “recycles” air from the building that has already been cooled off, and re-cools it, using less energy, than cooling off ambient outside air. There are several of these units on the roof.
IMG_8043
Looking down from the second floor into the lobby, at the front desk furniture, covered to protect it from the other construction going on. I’m guessing its walnut.
IMG_8048
Workers installing the stainless steel and glass “rails” on the second floor, in the main lobby area. The lights here are different than anywhere else in the building.
IMG_8116
Of the questions employees ask me, this is the gym area, and the rolls of material are the rubbery sub flooring material, and the “parquet” floor is in an area that can be separated by a “moving wall”. Last week this area was still being used by several of the trades for tool/supply storage.
IMG_8118
Gym area with a parquet floor.
IMG_7123
View from the roof, looking south out over the main lobby entrance. You can see the steel beams have been set for the covered parking areas, and lots of planters.
IMG_7132
Southwest corner of same parking lot.

IMG_7134
I’ll say it again, I love being on the roof…..
IMG_7157 IMG_7214
The floor in the cafe…. this pattern continues out into “Delta 13” the circles area just outside the cafe and main lobby entrance.
IMG_7848
Some of the larger trees staged in the parking lot.
IMG_7859
Stripes.
IMG_7891

IMG_8012
Each of the “break” areas have a different look and feel, and all are very open and inviting, with lots of amenities.
IMG_8021 IMG_8052

IMG_8067
Its the D E T A I L S that will make this building unique to GoDaddy.
IMG_8068 IMG_8131
Training rooms on the first floor north side.
IMG_8150
Lots of seating areas in the cafe…. booths are being assembled behind this long bench seating. Also lots of raised platform areas for seating as well.
IMG_8152 IMG_8157 IMG_8202 IMG_8286 IMG_8332
Southeast corner of the building also has a neon GoDaddy sign on it that will be visible from Warner and the 101. S W E E T !
IMG_8333
All 625 images shot 8/21/2014 are available here, and as always all images were shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 17-40 F4 L lens, or the EF 24-105 F4 L IS lens. Most inside shots had help from the Canon Speedlight 580EX II camera mounted.

Blow – Out – August 14, 2014

IMG_7816
Dropped off Scott & Pops at the car pool parking lot at 79th Ave & the I-10. Car was shaking at higher speeds. Pops and I looked at the tires, we knew it was a front end thing, but did not see anything. 5 miles to my house. I debated getting on the freeway, or taking surface streets. I took the freeway …… BLOWOUT!
IMG_7817 IMG_7818 IMG_7819
2 new tires, check. New windshield washer wiper hose, check. Lots of electricians tape, and zip ties, and silicone to put things back together, check. Massive blister from touching the wheel……….. check! The cars back together, with the exception of a new fender liner, which is ordered, and lots of scrubbing to remove tire from the paint.
IMG_7600
Yep its OFFICIAL!!!! Our name is on the building, and its NEON!!!!

IMG_7098
The basketball area is getting close to being finished.

IMG_7777
Biggest 1 week improvements ….. The interior is really coming together, and looks A M A Z I N G !!!!!! This is going to be a trophy/showcase of a building.

IMG_7720
Walnut. Its INCREDIBLE!!!!

I’ll post more tomorrow, or over the weekend, its 10pm, and I left home this morning at 5. Just finished the car repairs.

More photo’s from August 7, 2014

Another view of the main “round a bout” or “circle” drive in front of the main GoDaddy entrance.

IMG_6834
Looking at the main entrance from the curb. The northwest corner of the parking log was paved on the 5th, and 6th. You can see some of the planters that will adorn the areas outside the main entrance and in front of the cafe areas.

IMG_6835
Northwest corner of the building, looking south, towards Warner Road.

IMG_6853
View from the roof, looking west over the main entrance. You can see lots of workers on the job site. Greg with Ryan Companies told me that there are over 225 workers on site working towards the September deadline.

IMG_6861
More asphalt.

IMG_6882
There are always workers up on the roof, finishing details.

IMG_6956
Approx 800 cubicles on the second floor. Power is too all of them, and lots of workers working to make sure the networking cables are in place.

IMG_7012
There are 2 pallets of glass holders in the main lobby area. These will line the second floor areas that look into the main cafe and main lobby areas.

IMG_7017
First floor furniture is being built. The first floor work areas will look and feel like the developers area on the second floor in Gilbert.

IMG_7029
The desks, work tables will raise and lower, and are on wheels so they can be moved easily. They contain UPS’s and cable trays built into the underside of the tables.

IMG_7055
View from the stairs dropping down to the main “court” area.

IMG_7394
You can see the number of block layers working on this one wall. It was finished by the time I left the site today, and they were working in another area building more planters.
All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 17-40 F4 L lens, or the EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens. Inside shots used the Canon 580 EX II Speedlight for flash fill. ALL images shot in the last year can be seen here.

3 weeks to go – August 7, 2014

I added a few pictures from today. I’ll upload more tonight, and post some comments as well. The site looks AMAZING!!!!! Its getting closer everyday.
IMG_6825
There will be a “round a bout” in front of the building, this is the planter that’s going into the middle of it.

IMG_6846
Corner of the building closest to Warner and the 101. The main power comes into this corner of the building, the kitchen, and the pump room for the A/C units are all on this end of the building.

IMG_7006
Ceiling in the cafe. Its going to be an amazing space for us to eat in.

IMG_7068
They poured the concrete around the “basketball/volleyball/hockey?” area today. I cant to see the “sails” installed over this area.

IMG_7578
Main TV in the cafe. Its going to be a really B I G one.

Coming Soon – August 1, 2014

Pictures from 8-01-2014. Right at 4 weeks till GoDaddy gets its new building. Lots of changes each and every week.

Slab Poured – August 30, 2013

Go Daddy Tempe 48

OK. I could have named this post Go Daddy’s new Tempe Call Center. This is a tribute to  Ryan Companies, and all of the contractors, and trades that are building our new call center. I recieved an email from Vince letting me know that they placed the slab on grade for phase one. An amazing 539 cubic yards of concrete covering 43,000 sq. ft. on Wednesday. When I went by, lots of the crews were still working the concrete, and getting other things done.  I did some figuring, and I may be W A Y off, but here goes. A standard cement truck holds 10 cubic yards of concrete. A cubic yard of concrete weights an average of 3500 pounds. So  54 cement truck loads arrived on the job site on Wednesday, each carrying 35,000 pounds of concrete, for a total of 1,890,000 pounds of concrete. Let me rephrase that. ONE MILLION, EIGHT HUNDRED AND NINETY THOUSAND POUNDS! Like I stated, I may be way off, I’m wondering how much the “poured in place” walls will weigh. All images shot with my Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass, varing focal lengths, most images shot at F8.

Go Daddy Tempe 49 Go Daddy Tempe 50 Go Daddy Tempe 51

Appologies to Ryan Companies for continuing to “tag” their equipment with GoDaddy logos.

Go Daddy Tempe 52
View from the right of the water tank. In the distance you can see the slab.
Go Daddy Tempe 53
Zoomed in at 105mm you can see a little more of whats going on.

Go Daddy Tempe 54
Looking to the far right from the water tank, concrete has gone into the footer for the fence, or retaining wall.

Go Daddy Tempe 55

This is probably the underground contractors, maybe tying into the main, or adding a valve, I did not get close, in fact this was shot from the airconditioned comfort of my Avalon.

Go Daddy Tempe 56

This is the far north edge of the jobsite, right by the storage area, and job trailer, zoomed in to 105mm.

Go Daddy Tempe 57 Go Daddy Tempe 58

These were shot just to the left of the RYAN green and yellow trailer, looking south, south west.

Go Daddy Tempe 59 Go Daddy Tempe 60 Go Daddy Tempe 61

The 3 images above are looking north from Warner road. I cant wait to see the aerial shots now that the slab is in.

Go Daddy Tempe 62This is the view from the south east corner, looking north west. Zoomed in 105mm. The water tank would be to the left, and the job trailer would be off to the right.

Same mountains different storm – August 29, 2013

Estrella Mountains 2 Estrella Mountains 3

I spent some time with BJ today after work. He was not feeling well. We talked about what he had eaten so far today…. some grits and a sausage patty. It was 3 p.m. He’s not eating, and food does not taste good. It’s hard seeing a good friend in this state. I’ll continue to spend as much time with BJ as possible. Driving home God blessed me with another storm rolling over the top of the Estrella Mountains. I spent more than an hour watching, and driving down roads, most unpaved trying to get closer. The sky was magnificent!  Today was the first time, in a long time that I wished I had the EF 17-40 lens with me. I love the EF 24-105, but I would have liked having the wider angle for the sky. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-200, EF 24-105 F4 IS L glass, at 24mm, and 85mm, F8, 1-160 sec.

Flags – August 28, 2013

Flags

Josiah and I went out after work and shot some photographs. I always enjoy spending time with friends, especially if we’re walking around shooting. The flag, its reflection, the reflection of the building, and sky cloud combination make for an interesting photo. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens at 68mm, F8, 1/360 sec.

Estrella Mountain Range – August 27, 2013

Estrella Mountains

Went and spent some time with my friend BJ Starr after work today. I hpoe and pray he can start gaining some weight, and get his strength back. His illness seems to be taking its toll. I was talking to his sister on my way home, when I stopped and took this picture. Somewhere between 75th and 83rd  Avenues, heading west on Baseline Road, looking south to the Estrella Mountains. The clouds, shadows on the mountains, and the crystal clear blue sky caught my attention. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, EF 24-105  F4 IS L lens at 24mm, F8, 1/250 sec. Saturation bumped a little bit in LightRoom.

GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – August 26, 2013

Go Daddy Tempe 34
Picture taken to the right of the water tower. Lots of new trenches, etc. Dirt work continues.

Go Daddy Tempe 35
View from the left of the water tower. More contractors are on the job, more storage trailers, containers, and equipment.

Go Daddy Tempe 36
View to the right of the water tower, just inside the fence. Probably footers for a wall? Pure conjecture on my part.

Go Daddy Tempe 37
In last weeks post, I mentioned DIP and the fact that it is wrapped, or put into a sleeve so alkaline soils don’t deteriorate the pipe. This is a better image to see the pipe in the ground waiting to be burried.

Go Daddy Tempe 38
The storage area outside the job trailer is much larger, with new pallets of materials waiting to be used.

Go Daddy Tempe 39
View from the same area, zoomed in to the area where the concrete was poured today? for the main slab, or slabs. All of the foundation/slabs are covered with yellow plastic to help cure the concrete, and to keep rain out. Correction: The yellow plastic is actually a vapor barrier below the slab. Vince with Ryan Companies let me know that on 8/28/2013 they  placed the slab on grade for phase 1. 530 cubic yards of concrete covering 43,000 sq. ft.

Go Daddy Tempe 40
View from the 101 to the left of the green and yellow “Ryan” trailer, as I drive around the perimeter of the site taking these pictures, I realize how big the site really is.

Go Daddy Tempe 41
View from the 101 closer to warner, as are most of the rest of this series of pictures. The foundation/slab area is easy to see from this angle.

Go Daddy Tempe 33
I tagged this piece of equipment with the GoDaddy logo’s and the GoDaddy Dude.

Go Daddy Tempe 42
101 close to the corner of Warner, again you can see the new footers/foundation/slab. Correction: The yellow plastic is actually a vapor barrier below the slab. Vince with Ryan Companies let me know that on 8/28/2013 they  placed the slab on grade for phase 1. 530 cubic yards of concrete covering 43,000 sq. ft.

Go Daddy Tempe 43
Possible footer for a wall, or fence???? This angle would be facing Warner and the 101.

Go Daddy Tempe 44
Looking back from this corner area trying to convey the size of the area where the concrete was poured. Correction: The yellow plastic is actually a vapor barrier below the slab. Vince with Ryan Companies let me know that on 8/28/2013 they  placed the slab on grade for phase 1. 530 cubic yards of concrete covering 43,000 sq. ft.

Go Daddy Tempe 45
Again this may be a footer for a fence?? This wall would be facing Warner.

Go Daddy Tempe 46
Again zoomed in looking back from the corner area trying to give you a sense of the size of the building.

Go Daddy Tempe 47
This is a 2 image panorama, again trying to give you a sense of the size of the building. Click here to see the panorama full size. Once the site opens up, click on the image, then click on the “O” for original, at 20.8 mb it will take a minute or two to load. All images show with the Canon 5D Mark II, Ef 24-105 F4 IS L lens, ISO-100, F8, 1/500 sec, hand held. Correction: The yellow plastic is actually a vapor barrier below the slab. Vince with Ryan Companies let me know that on 8/28/2013 they  placed the slab on grade for phase 1. 530 cubic yards of concrete covering 43,000 sq. ft.

Might as well Jump – August 26, 2013

Trash the Dress

This is one of a series of photographs taken up by Blue Ridge Reservoir.  Mars and Jaz were in a quinceanera, and wanted to take some “Trash the Dress” pictures, and we were going to the cabin anyway. What a beautiful area for photographs. The rest of the images are here. Canon 30D, two Canon Speedlight 580EX strobes, off camera right, triggered by the Canon ST-2E. ISO-100, F8, 85mm, 1/125 sec.

Pastor Greg Rohlinger – August 25, 2013

Greg Rohlinger

I’ve talked about Pastor Greg Rohlinger in other posts. Its always a pleasure to hear him preach. He stood most of Saturday nights service, and does not pace as much as he used to. His speech is a little slurred as a result of his illness, but I’m always happy to see him, and to hear him preach God’s word. Our current series is called “Its Complicated“. Lots of things in our lives should be simple……… Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 70-200 F4 IS L lens, at 200mm, ISO-400, F4, 1/100 sec, mounted on my Bogen tripod. I matched the Kelvin to the new Black Magic video camera we use to record the service, which was set to 3200K.

1999 Toyota Camery – August 24, 2013

1999 Toyota Camery

I currently drive a 2000 Toyota Avalon. It replaced my 1999 Camery. I was rear ended on I-10 West bound at just about 27th Avenue. This happened August 24, 2006.  I bought the Avalon when the odometer had just turned 70,000 miles. It now has over 230,000. I would like a new car. The Avalon is paid for… it has a decent stereo…. ICE cold air, a must have in Arizona…….. and did I mention its paid for? Canon Rebel XT, ISO-200, 18mm, F16, 1/80 sec.

Spencer Hall’s Mini Cooper – August 23, 2013

Spencer Hall - Mini Cooper

I worked with Spencer Hall at Fry’s Electronics and at GoDaddy.com. In 2006 we took some pictures of his baby. His Mini Cooper. We drove the Mini onto the golf course at the Pointe South Mountain. We got some really good pictures. Arizona Ice Tea “Arnold Palmer” removed from the roof of the car in photoshop. Shot with the Canon XTi Rebel, ISO-400, F4, 25mm, 1/100 sec.

Throwing the Bouquet – August 22, 2013

Throwing the bouquet before

OK, OK, OK. The above image was “staged”. The bride wanted to keep her bouquet, so this was one of the bridesmaids bouquets.  This was one of the last shots, as the couple left. My daughter Jazmin actually took this image, from the angle I shot from, the bouquet was indistinguishable from the citrus trees. This image is good, the concept is fantastic, if I do say so myself. The image could use a little magic, Adobe Photoshop style.

Throwing the bouquet after

The light pole was removed, the grass/gravel area was filled in, the car paint was modified, the citrus tree was filled in, and the bouquet was given a lift to seperate it even further from the tree. Shot with the Canon Rebel XTi, ISO-100, EF 28-135 IS lens, at 65mm, F13, 1/200 sec. Brian and Amanda’s wedding pictures are here.

Rim View – August 21, 2013

Rim View

This is a view of the Mogollon Rim in a side mirror of the Honda Pilot. Shot inspired by Jazmin. Shot August 2010 with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F13 40mm, 1/100 sec.

Rim View 2

Same view, different angle, and quite a bit wider angle. Canon 30D, ISO-100, F13 17mm, 1/100 sec.

Go Daddy Tempe 21

Trenches with wrapped DIP (ductile iron pipe) water line for pottable water and to feed fire hydrants, and fire sprinker systems.

Go Daddy Tempe 23

Another open trench with DIP. The trench will be back filled with dirt once it passes inspection. The pipe is incased in a plastic sleeve which helps the DIP last longer, corode less in alkaline soil. If I remember correctly, clorine tablets are put in each section of the DIP, so once water in introduced it will disinfect all the pipe, and attached water lines.

Go Daddy Tempe 25Lots of equipment on the job site today. The rights tool for the right job! Go Daddy Guy added in post production.

Go Daddy Tempe 26

You can see the rebar poking up from some footers. SAFETY FIRST. You can tell all the rebar has plastic caps or 2×4 studs to help eliminate anyone getting impaled on them.

Go Daddy Tempe 27

All of the plastic (white) pipes are for water, or they are grey for electrical conduit. Basically “Infrastructure”. I’m sure they are color coded.

Go Daddy Tempe 28

Storage by the job trailers.

Go Daddy Tempe 29

This shot was taken from the area by the green and yellow Ryan trailer, over the fence off the access road for the 101.

Go Daddy Tempe 31

This shot was taken from the area by the green and yellow Ryan trailer, over the fence off the access road for the 101, closer to the corner of Warner.

Go Daddy Tempe 32

This is the best photo to see the “abc” or gravel which will sit under the slabs, or foundation. Probably 1-2 weeks away from pouring the slabs. It looks a lot different in just one week.  All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, ISO-50, F8, 1/200 sec, various focal lengths.

Foggy Road Ahead – August 19, 2013

Foggy Road

So sometimes when you head up north for a weekend, you can encounter bad weather, even in the summer. This is from a trip to Jeff and Alyson’s cabin from August 2010. We encountered a “patch” of  fog. 25-30 miles  of fog that you could not see through. We came across a herd of elk that was walking along the side of the road. I was driving, so no pictures of the elk. I had pulled off the road to shoot this picture. A scary drive. This image was shot with my Canon 30D, ISO-400, 17mm, F4, 1/30 sec.

Arizona Diamondbacks Birthday Cake – August 17, 2013

Az Diamondbacks Birthday Cake

Another cake from JazCakes.com. Arizona Diamondbacks baseball. The cake is a double layer white cake with fresh strawberry filling, covered in home made fondant. Top 2 images shot using bounced flash, and the bottom 2 are using direct flash, and are slightly bluer. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, ISO-100, F8, 1/60 sec, with the 580EXII camera mounted.

Old Farm House – August 16, 2013

Old Farm House

This image was shot August 2012. This farm house was probable used by migrant workers. You can see the building is falling off the foundation. The bricks are cracked and shifted all around the building. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 17-40 F4 Lens at F8, ISO-100, 1/250 sec.

On Monday after work I stopped by the new site, and took pictures. The top 2 are ground level images shot over the fence, giving you an idea whats been going on. The bottom is one of the buildings close by. Some of the buildings in the ASU Research Park are incredible. I like the curved mirrored glass on the front of this building, and the reflection of sky, clouds, and trees. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, at F8,  ISO-100, 1/250 sec.
