Ryan Messner – May 28, 2013

Ryan Messner

So early Saturday morning, OK scratch that! It is Ryan after all. Saturday 10:ish Ryan and I went out to the desert to go shooting. Mark and Tom wussed out, scratch that, had other appointments and could not make it. I brought my Ruger 9mm. This was the first day I shot MY gun. I had shot the Ruger before, when Mark owned it, but this was the first time shooting MY gun. Ryan brought too many weapons to count. Seriously! This is Ryan burning through a 10 round magazine in about 4 seconds with my Ruger. This a composite image made from 3 images showing all 10 spent shells flying through the air. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-50, F8, 105mm, 1/400 sec.

Ryan Messners 1960 Ford F100 4X4 – March 18, 2013

Ryan Messners 1960 Ford F100

So my nephew Ryan Messner has a love for all things old. His everyday driver is this 1960 Ford F100 4×4, or his 1966 Ford Mustang. The same Mustang that his father and I tooled around (crusied) in when we were in high school. Then he has a couple of old cars. I’ve posted a picture of his 1950 Packard here. Easter 2012 at Tom’s house. Ryan had parked out front, and so I took some pictures of one of his loves! Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-50, 17mm, F4, 1/1000 sec with the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II in “High Speed Sync” mode, for “fill”.

1950Packard

This is my nephew Ryan Messner with his 1950 Packard. We took several shots of the Packard in various locations in downtown Phoenix, ending up on the top of a parking garage at sunset. This was shot  March 30, 2009 just before dusk. The building behind Ryan had a lot of contrast with the bricks, and rusting steel grates. The image was processed using HDR (High Dynamic Range) software in Photoshop. The street sign was also changed to “Packard 1950”. A layer mask was used to preserve  Ryan. The Packard is an original Arizona car, used as a lead funeral car with only a driver’s seat. The passenger’s seat was removed to make room for flowers. See more of Ryan’s Packard HERE. Canon 30D 17-85EFS lens, F5.6, 17mm, 1/80 sec, ISO-100, using 580EX flash on camera for fill.
