Pastor Ryan Nunez spoke about Greg and Lori, and we saw several video clips from throughout the years….. Then he introduced the Rohlinger family….

Lori interpreted some of what Greg said. You could see the full range of emotions on his face. It was a bitter sweet celebration, to see what God has done through Greg, and even through his illness was really great. Since he had the brain implant, his health got much worse, then leveled out. He may never walk again, and his voice is small and hard at times hard to understand. The love of Lori and the children for their husband / father was evident in every touch and every look. I’m absolutely sure all four services wore the family out. Our church and family continue to pray for complete healing for Greg Rohlinger and for continued strength for the family.

Happy Thanksgiving – November 28, 2013

metal art

I’m thankful for so much, family, friends, my job, etc., etc. I’m the most thankful for my beautiful wife putting up with me for the last 25+ years. Thanksgiving dinner was at Jeff’s house. This is in his backyard. Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, and my 70-200 F2.8 IS L lens at F2.8 with existing light only. Hand held. ISO-200, 1/40 sec, 135mm.

I stopped by the new call center on my way home Saturday after work. With all the rain we got on Friday, and Saturday, the site is all mud, and puddles. Scaffolding has been delivered and is stacked up against the fence. Block for the fences is staged, the cement is on a pallet, double wrapped in plastic to keep it dry. Things look like they are progressing nicely. All images shot with Canon 5D Mark II, with 70-200 EF 2.8 IS L glass. My first images with this lens.

Greg Rohlinger Day – Goodyear, AZ – November 24, 2013

Greg Rohlinger 1

Greg’s father in law Don Engram, who has been a pastor for for 60 years, spoke this weekend at Palm Valley Church. The series is called ROAR! Its about what God can do with us, if we let Him. Lori introduced her father, and in the past 60 years, he has been in 78 countries, flown back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean 76 times, been behind the Iron Curtain, and done some amazing things for God’s Kingdom. Lori also let us know the mayor of Goodyear had officially declared Novemer 24, 2013 as “Greg Rohlinger Day”. Don Engram was born into an abusive home, with NO indoor plumbing, no bathroom, kitchen sink, tub/shower, in a very poor area. He told us how he gave his life to the Lord when he was a freshman in high school, and by the time he was a senior, his parents had split up, and he had no place to live. A pastor invited him to live with their family his senior year, and he stated that was the first time in his life he saw love and respect modeled between a man and his wife. Don went to a bible college, but had a stutter, and was told he would never become a preacher. Don had some great stories about how God was able to use,  and help him “roar”.

Saturday night after service, I stood and watched Pastor Greg on his scooter, shake hands, and hug everyone around him. It amazes me to watch him minister and pray over people in the church for whatever they need, as he battles his Multiple System Atrophy. The Parkinson’s symptoms are becoming more pronounced. He has a heart for God’s work, and never complains. He tells me that he is happy just shaking hands, hugging them, and ministering to them any way he can.

Old Car – Yarnell, AZ – November 23, 2013

Old Car Yarnell 1

November 2006. My beautiful wife Sheri Lynn and I, along with our friend Brian went for a drive up through Yarnell, and into Prescott for the day. We drove through some residential neighborhoods, and saw this really old rusted out car in a front yard. Above is the “original” image rendered into a jpeg.

Old Car Yarnell 2

Above image after a little Photoshop magic, to make the background less “urban”. I remember spending hours playing in Photoshop on this image.  2 more examples below of the same image but different looks.

Ryan Messner’s 1950 Packard. This is an early November 2004 image. Shot with the Olympus C750UZ, processed in Photoshop, with the saturation bumped way up.

Drainage Pipe – November 21, 2013

Drainage Pipe

Looking back at some photographs from Novembers past……. My wife says I’m drawn to drainage pipes, you know the ones big enoug to walk in hunched over, they are like a telescope pointing and drawing your attention to whatever they are pointed at. Sunset is a good time to look thru these telescopes…. shot 11/28/2004 at 5:14 PM, 10 min or so before sunset.  Olympus C750UZ. This camera took very good quality images.

Bug Party – November 19, 2013

Bug Party

Not what sure what kind of bugs these are…? Shot in my neighbors front yard 11/24/2005 with my Olympus C750UZ, ISO-50, F6.3, 1/25 sec, at 11mm focal length.

New Windsor Hotel – November 18, 2013

New Windsor Hotel

The New Windsor Hotel in downtown Phoenix is not so new. I could’nt find a whole lot of information on it, but it looks like its been here for awhile. I was driving thru downtown just before dawn, and had to shoot this with the neon sign blaring out “take my picture”, or “New Windsor Hotel”, one of the two.

City Hall – November 14, 2013

City of Phoenix

This is a sunburst on the front of city of Phoenix’s city hall. I’ve always liked the building, and the sunburst, but never photographed it before. Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, ISO 100, 1/200 sec.

I drove by the site today after work. It looks like forms are in place, rebar is in the forms for the walls to be poured in place. Lots of activity today. Canon 5D Mark II, like always.

Pastor Greg Ronlinger – November 12, 2013

Greg Rohlinger

The current series at Palm Valley Church is called ROAR. I was excited to see Greg and his wife Lori along with Ryan Nunez on the stage this past weekend. I appreciate every word he has to say about God and his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as he continues with his struggles with Multiple System Atrophy.   The church body is doing a 7 day fast. Its called the “Daniel Fast“. The Daniel Fast is a plant-based eating plan with the only beverage being water. When the bodies that God designed and created are fed the good quality foods He created especially for it improvements in health result. The high fiber in the fruit, vegetables and whole grains cleanses the body and improves digestion. It’s not uncommon for cholesterol levels to drop, for blood sugar levels to balance, for weight to be lost and for a general feeling of well-being to be experienced.  Day 2 of the fast….. so far, so good.

Kendall Jackson Winery – November 10,2013

Kendall Jackson Winery

When we were in Petaluma, CA we had a chance to visit a winery. It was a last minute decision, and with a lot of the wineries you have to have reservations. We were able to walk around Kendall Jackson, sample some wines, which really meant purchase a case, or so and have a fun morning. Post processing in lightroom, to remove Tommy, and bump up the saturation a little bit.

Table Setting – November 7th, 2013

Table Setting

So at the pizza party at Art and Ron’s, this is what the tables looked like. Another composite with the same bottle, full sized, to give you an idea of just how much information, or how large the native image is out of the camera.

Golden Gate Bridge – November 6, 2013

Golden Gate Bridge

So I made a couple of composite images last night. The tower on the left, is the full size image from the right. The 22 megapixel images the Canon 5D Mark II produces can create very large printable images, and extremely large images  for a computer to handle. I shoot RAW.  The raw image out of the camera for the above image is 25.5 mb. After processing, saved as a “uncompressed tif” file is 60.1 mb. Lots of information is available from raw images.

Delanie’s 7th Birthday Party – November 5, 2013

Delanie

Delanie turned 7 years old on October 24th! Its a GREAT day for a birthday, except when most of your family is on their way to San Fransisco for a wedding. We got to celebrate with Delaine on the 3rd of November. She is full of energy. The shots on the trampolene are 3 combined images of her doing a backflip. She “travels” a LOT less then this composite image shows. I had to space them out so you could see more of her flip. I though she was getting tired, she flew off the trampolene, and climbed the closest tree. What a little cutie. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, the EF24-105 F4 IS L glass almost never gets changed, and was the only lens I took to Emil and Angela’s house for the party. Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill.

Looks like the phase 2 concrete has been poured. Underground, infrastructure seems to be progressing nicely…

GoDaddy 03

The “lake” or pond is very low, this is where any runoff from the GoDaddy parking, grounds will end up as it makes its way into the lake.

GoDaddy 02

Duck!!!

GoDaddy 04

Water tower, shot from the pond, or lake area.

GoDaddy 05

View from the slab, looking towards Warner and the 101. Camera set on the edge of the slab….

GoDaddy 06

View from the slab, looking back towards the water tower, and existing buildings. The job trailer would be just off to the right of where the picture ends…

GoDaddy 07

One of the slabs poured earlier……. not sure what they are being used for. The sun reflecting off the concrete almost makes it look wet. Nice cool cloudy day. Makes for nice photographs. Canon 5D Mark II, 24-105, and 70-200 f4 lenses. The site looks like its coming along nicely.
