ASU Graduation – April 29, 2014
Jazmin graduated from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU today. This was an intimate graduation. 20 of the seniors that have been student teachers this year at Littleton School District. Their students got to go on a field trip to see the teachers in their cap and gowns. The program was very nice. Jazmin’s parents and grandparents attended. Jazmin also took pictures with her mentor teacher and each of her students. Her kids just love her. Its amazing to see what a difference a teacher makes in their students lives, in even just 1 year. Sheri Lynn and I are very proud of Jazmin’s accomplishments.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 25, 2014
Went by the job site yesterday. There must have been 75-100 different workers. Above shots from outside, ground work continuing, both water lines/fire hydrant lines, and drainage. Paint going on a few of the exterior panels, and the inside of the roof area is all painted.
Steel framing inside and out continues. I cant believe how much work got done in the last week.
The interior changes are really accelerating. The fire proofing material is 80-90% done. The windows are 65-75% done. I imagine that by next week, that the windows and doors will all be in place.
Elevators are in. This area is still off limits, but I imagine the areas around the elevators themselves will be buttoned up fairly quickly. Floor polishing is still going on in the walkways.
OK, you’ve seen a similar shot before. I really like the reflections, and patterns they make. Over 1500 images shot so far, and all can be seen here. As always all shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, with the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill on some of the interior shots.
Happy Easter – April 20, 2014
We had a total of 8 Easter Services at Palm Valley Church. 1 Friday night, 2 services Saturday night, 3 services Sunday morning at the main campus in Goodyear, and 2 Sunday services at the Buckeye campus. Pastor Ryan Nunez spoke at all 8 services.
Sunday Goodyear 10am service, the overflow of 300-350 sat in the lobby watching the service on TV. We had 1477 adults attend this service.
The worship team taking some candid shots after the last service Sunday.
Digital audio mixing board for Scott to see…..
GoDaddy’s new Tempe Call Center – April 17, 2014
Some times you look at something in a different way….. Reflections from water, windows, mirrors, …. can create some very unique patterns.
This is a cooling tower, in a separate building.
Equipment is being added everywhere. I need to ask Vince what this room is housing. Its at the corner closest to Warner and the 101 freeways. In the area of the kitchen/cafe area.
Looking down from the 2nd floor, by the lobby into the cafe area.
1st floor, polishing the floor. This will be a main walkway, speedway, course, whatever you want to call it.
2nd floor covering to keep the polished floor clean. Both of these areas are in phase 2. You can also see lots of metal studs for drywall. There is some drywall work that is new in the last 10 days.
90 degree bends for the air vents.
ELEVATORS are being installed!!!!! This is looking in one of the “doors” on the second floor, looking up. The workers had the area roped off while they were working.
ELEVATORS, this shot from the first floor, looking up. That is the bottom of both elevators.
Lots of changes in 10 days at the call center. This corner is mostly buttoned up.
The roof is very close to being finished. The foam and rubber roofing is 90-95% complete. The air handling / equipment areas are filling up, and being painted. Today was about 92 degrees outside. The roof felt 15-20 degrees hotter with all of the white reflective materials.
Cutting through the roof for access from one of the utility closets on the second floor.
Another selfie ………..
As always… all the images from the New Tempe Call Center can be seen here, and all were shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, and on indoor images flash fill provided by the 580 EX II Speedlight, camera mounted.
Kaden – April 10, 2014
Kaden, safe in his dad’s arms. Wide awake, taking in the world. Playing Paper, scissors, rocks, by himself.
GoDaddy’s New Tempe Call Center – April 9, 2014
A stack of round duct stands at attention, waiting to be deployed. The inside has undergone some major work since I was last inside the building. Lots of walls are going up, the second floor has been poured. Fire sprinkler lines are going in.
This area will contain men’s and woman’s restrooms, along with some utility rooms, and maybe an office or two.
The main entrance is growing closer to being done. All of the major steel work seems to be finished.
View from the lobby area second floor, looking into the cafeteria seating area. This will feel, and be very open.
Fireproofing the steel. The plastic is to catch most of the over spray. The rest is just swept up. The ceiling is then painted white, which you can see in one of the above images. All images shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, EF 24-105 F4 IS L lens, on the interior shots the Canon Speedlight 580 EX II was camera mounted for flash fill. All of the images from the Tempe Call Center can be seen here.
ASU Seniors – April 6, 2014
Jacob’s major is chemical engineering…… way over my head.

Jazmin will graduate with a degree in elementary education.
Angie & Jordan – May 1, 2013
Jazmin is my second shooter at weddings. She captured this emotionally charged scene, as Angie approaches Jordan in her wedding dress. Jordan is with me, and I’ve just had him turn around. He sees his bride for the first time in her wedding dress. I’m cheating a little, by posting this series as 3 different posts. I photoshopped out the other photographer, (me). Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F8, 28mm, 1/250 sec, with a speedlight 580 EXII camera mounted for flash fill.
Angie Elam – April 29, 2013
Wow! Jordan, you married an angel! Post processing to “blow out” the image done in Adobe Lightroom. Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-50, 105mm, F4, 1/320 sec, with flash fill provided by a Canon Speedlight, 580 EX II.
Edible Arrangment – April 28, 2013
My beautiful wife’s parents had an anniversary. Jazmin put together a little edible arrangment for them. It tasted every bit as good as it looked. Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad.
Diablo Canyon – April 27, 2013
One of the most expensive parts of the railroad systems in place in the US is the crossing over Diable Canyon. When the original surveyors did their survey, they missed the canyon. Within a half a mile is the remnants from the buildings that housed the workers. The original bridge has been replaced several times over. It is crazy loud when a train goes over the tracks and you are anywhere near the bridge. Some people are even under the bridge, on a walkway as this train is crossing over the bridge. Crazy. I’m standing on a platform used to change signals, maybe? Approx 6-8 feet up from the ground, and the train passing by caused the metal permanent structure to sway 2-3 feet. Crazy. Canon 30D, ISO-100, 70-200 F4 L glass, at 120mm, 1-320 sec, at F13.
Double Vision – April 26, 2013
“I was feeling down and dirty, feeling kindof mean, I’ld been from one to another extreme.” I went through high school with a best friend. Mark. Now his litter sister is my best friend, and my beautiful wife. Mark and I went to see a few concerts in high school, and a few since then. Marks beautiful wife Darlene gets him concert tickets every year or two to go see some of the bands we used to listen to growing up, and still listen to. I sometimes benefit from the tickets, and tonight was no exception. Foreigner. Mick Jones is the only original member of the band currently touring with Foreigner. The other members have been together for 6 years. No new music, but that was all right. The songs are as fresh and alive, and sound every bit as good as when we saw them in 1978. Thanks Mark, and thanks Darlene. I had a blast. Shot with a camera phone.
Earth Day Cupcakes – April 23, 2013
Earth Day was 4-22-13, in case you missed it. It was a pretty big deal for Olivia who turned nine. She wanted earth day cupcakes, and this is what Jazmin came up with. The cupcakes were chocalate, and all the kids loved the fact that they could hold the world in their hands, then eat it. Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, 75mm, 1/800 sec, 580 EX II camera mounted for fill.
Tree Heart – April 22, 2013
So this tree with the origimi was just about perfect. The only thing it was missing was a knot, or a cut off branch which healed in the shape of a heart. Photoshop can help you create magic! Scroll down to yesterdays post to see the tree without the heart added. Was able to work on and upload 75-80 pictures from Angie and Jordans wedding. Their gallery will be locked till they let me know which images they want removed. Will add camera data later.
Angie & Jordans Wedding – April 21, 2013
So………. What a BLAST. Angie and Jordans wedding was a really good time. Above are a couple of shots that really show you who Angie and Jordan are. So Jordan was going to see Angie before the wedding. Logistically it could NOT be avoided. We had Jordan stand under a tree, with no one except a photographer (me) around, with his back to where Angie would be approaching from. Angie made her way towards Jordan, and at approximately the same distance as her walking down the aisle, I had Jordan turn around. The second picture is Jordans reaction seeing Angie for the very first time in her wedding dress. The top picture was taken in that same quiet time with no one else around. The picture of their feet was also taken during this time frame. The others were taken after the wedding had taken place, and the reception was well under way. The tree being decorated with origami was Angie’s idea, and also her handy work. The bouquets and boutonnieres were also origami, and also created by Angie. The day was just about perfect. Both cameras were used to document the days events. Angie & Jordan, I hope to have some of the images uploaded to your wedding gallery sometime later on today, or this evening. Love you guys, and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day. Link to the rehearsal pictures here.
Angie & Jordan – April 20, 2013
CONGRATULATIONS Angie & Jordan. Today is the big day. The above pictures are from the rehearsal Friday night at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. Top picture is a tree that Jordan’s brother Kevin created from ink, and a clean piece of paper. AMAZING! Fingerprints will be added as leaves, and roots from the wedding party, and guests. The second picture can only be labeled “You may now kiss your Bride”. The bottom image is Angie holding one of the other couples little boy, as they added their fingerprint leaves to the tree. All shot with the Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-50, F4 or F8, 1/60 sec, 24-105mm F4 IS lens, with the Canon 580 EX II camera mounted for flash fill. More rehersal pictures here.
Lakers colors – April 19, 2013
This image was shot April 19, 2012. I liked the contrast of the in focus purple flowers against the out of focus yellow flowers. Laker colors. I’m a SUNS fan. This was a rough year to say the least. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, 200mm, 1/640 sec.
Desert Botanical Garden – April 17, 2013
The Desert Botanical Garden is in the Phoenix – Tempe, Arizona area. Josiah and I spent an afternoon walking some of the 140 acre park, and of course taking pictures. This is an agave cactus getting ready to bloom. They get these stalks that grow very vast, and very tall. Then arms, shoots come out and the buds form, then open up. Some agave cactus bloom only once, then die, like century cactus. Shot late April 2012. Shot with with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, 1/2000 sec, 200mm.
Desert Botanical Garden – April 16, 2013
The Desert Botanical Garden is in the Phoenix – Tempe, Arizona area. Josiah and I spent an afternoon walking some of the 140 acre park, and of course taking pictures. These cactus were doing their best impression of a toothbrush. Shot late April 2012. Shot with with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, F4, 1/500 sec, 70mm.
Desert Botanical Garden – April 15, 2013
The Desert Botanical Garden is in the Phoenix – Tempe, Arizona area. Josiah and I spent an afternoon walking some of the 140 acre park, and of course taking pictures. These bugs were having a grand old time right outside the enterance. I’m not sure if these guys could fly, or not. The bright red on the muted cactus stalks was quite a contrast. Shot with with the Canon 30D, ISO-100, 1/800 sec, 200mm, and F4 is what keeps the bugs in focus, and blows out the background, bokah.
3rd week in a row – April 14, 2013
So Pastor Greg Rohlinger is looking really good lately. He preached 7 services for Easter, and has preached all 4 services last week, and this week. The new series is called “Christian”. Its really good to see him have the strength and energy to do what God has called him to do. Shot with the Canon 30D, ISO-800, F4, 1/200 sec, at 200 mm.
Eagle Scout Celebration – April 13, 2013
Jazmin’s latest cake was for an Eagle Scout. The cake turned out perfect. It matched the other decorations. Choclate cake, covered with fondant, and super white choclate. Shot withe the Canon 5D Mark II, ISO-100, F8, top 24mm, bottom 80mm, 1/160 sec, Speedlight 580 EXII camera mounted for fill. To see more of Jazmin’s creations click here.
